Week 16 Letter

Hi sweetheart!
It’s been a fun couple of weeks for us. We moved into our new house (here’s a sneak peak of your room) so we’re busy getting all settled. Everything is pretty much done now. Well, we still need to get all of your stuff but that’s next on Mommy’s list. I’m starting to get pretty anxious about going to buy you baby furniture and baby clothes… but boy, I think you’re going to need a LOT and I don’t really know where to start. Daddy and I are going shopping in a few weeks, hopefully we get a lot of stuff done then.
Also we had another doctor’s appointment for you. We heard your heartbeat again. And this time the doctor didn’t have any trouble finding it. You must be getting bigger so it’s harder for you to hide when she comes at you with the little heartbeat thing. Your heartbeat is still high. Actually it jumped from the mid-150s to 165-170 while we were listening. I guess that’s your way of saying to us before you start kicking me.
Not that I want you to inflict pain on me just yet, kiddo, but it’s OK to start letting me know you’re in there. Every once in a while I think i feel something, but then it’s gone, so it’s probably just my imagination or me just wanting so badly to feel you wiggling around. It’ll happen soon enough, so it’s OK.
It’s a rainy day today. It’s the kind of day where you just want to curl up on the couch with a book or a movie and stay under the covers all day. It’d be a good day to cuddle with you too. If you take after your dad, you’ll hate rainy days and not being able to do something. If you’re like me at all, you’ll live for them! Guess we’ll find all of that stuff out soon enough.
Before I go, I just want to tell you that if you’re a girl, you’re going to be very well protected. Listening to your daddy talk about putting you in a bubble so you don’t get hurt (apparently boys need some bumps and bruises to toughen them up) gives a whole new meaning to the phrase ‘daddy’s girl’. And Lord knows he’s spent way to much time with high school boys to think you’ll ever be allowed to date. Sorry, baby. We’ll have a few years to work on him though. That’s it for now, little one. We love you very much.
